This evening was the first meeting of the new season of Chorley Photographic Society. Our speaker was Christine Widdall who is a great friend of our society and has visited on many occasions. This evening was all about Ai (Artificial Intelligence) and its use in photography and creating images that aren't photographs! As expected there were some lively discussions. This evening was my 52nd new season and it is interesting to note that similar controversial subjects have been discussed before. Trade processed prints & even digital photography has created disruptions! In the photos are some adverts from 1972 showing Mamiya & Nikkormat cameras. I still have mine.

While wandering along the canal this morning I stopped to chat to an interesting group of volunteers. They were dredging using a grapple and powerful magnet and all sorts of stuff was being recovered. The young man pulled out an old VHS video player/recorder but had no idea what it was. The knife was obvious and apparently quite common. They also recover firearms and then need to call the police, who usually turn up within 20mins. I assume the general scrap metal is weighed in but they also pulled out several large tyres, which they have to pay to be disposed of.

Grim find.
