Christmas Day.
My Christmas Day morning walk (Sun 25th Dec 2022) was by the Whittle & Clayton-le-Woods War Memorial. I stopped to think about the unofficial Christmas Day truce in 1914 along parts of the Great War's Western Front. German and British soldiers crossed trenches to exchange seasonal greetings and games of football were played. The memorial lists those who died and I often wonder if any were involved in those games of football.

A huge crowd turned up to enjoy the Heapey and Wheelton Christmas Carols around the Tree at the War Memorial Clock Tower this evening (Sat 24th Dec 2022). It was difficult getting near due to the crowds. Big thanks to the organisers, musicians and nativity children

This morning Keith came around 9am to look at my garage electrical problem. He’s a qualified electrician. Fitted a new armoured cable from inside consumer unit, through the wall and overhead to the garage to where he fitted a new consumer unit.

I recently heard that Jim Newton of the Red Rose Cave & Pothole Club died recently at the age of 91. His funeral is today.

This evening I was out for a chilly bike ride when I had to stop and take some snaps of the tree outside Westfield Tree Services, Riley Green, Hoghton. Its Christmas lights were turned on a few days ago. It looks better than ever this year as the roadside hedge (A675 Bolton Rd) also has lights.

Wow! Such a fantastic turnout for the big switch on of the Whittle-le-Woods Christmas Tree Lights on Waterhouse Green. We were treated to the Chorley Silver Band to help the Christmas Carol singing plus mulled wine and mince pies.
