Tried an old Nikkor f1.4 lens (over 40 years) on my modern digital body. The wide open photos weren't very sharp.

Wheelton's "Carols Around the Tree" Christmas Eve (Sun 24 Dec 2023) has been going for 46 years and once again was an incredible success. Jointly organised by Wheelton Parish Council, Heapey and Wheelton Village Hall Committee and Heapey Parish Council.
Local musicians and children in costumes provided the perfect environment for Christmas readings, nativity and the singing of traditional carols. The venue was the War Memorial Clock Tower in Wheelton village centre and hundreds of people turned up to enjoy the carols on a very windy night. Thankfully the rain didnít arrive till after the event.

Today was the Whittle-le-Woods, Senior Citizensí Christmas Party in the Village Hall. It was a cold sunny day outside but nice and cosy inside with glasses of mulled wine to warm everyone up. Before the meal we were treated to an excellent performance of Christmas carols sung the St John's school choir. Our guest of honour was the Mayor of Chorley Councillor Tommy Gray. A huge thanks go to our dedicated band of helpers who served the sumptuous 75 Christmas meal to our Senior Citizens. It was all organised and funded by the Village Hall Trustees with present for everyone.

The rain and cold didnít stop a massive crowd of Whittle-le-Woods residents turning out for the switching on of the Christmas Tree lights on Waterhouse Green, Whittle-le-Woods (Sun 3rd Dec 2023). A huge thanks to Chorley Silver Band for the music and the organisers for mince pies and mulled wine. Although Santa had a busy schedule he was able to call. Frank has been playing the trumpet at the Whittle & Clayton-le-Woods War memorial on Armistice Day for over 50 years so it was fitting that he switched on the lights.
