The last of the mill building that survives in Whittle-le-Woods is Swansy Mill. Before the boundary changes it spanned Carr Brook and the Parishes of Whittle & Clayton-le-Woods.

Evening visit to Wigan Archaeiological Society which was held at the Horwich Heritage Centre.

The Winter Hill mast began transmitting in 1966. I used to go up there with my mate Terry and we would wander round the huge concrete block anchors that secured the steel cables holding the mast up. The cables are now being replaced and this is one of the original securing bolts now on display in the Horwich Heritage Centre.
