AMorning visit to the cinema to see 'A Complete Unknown' - about
the rise of Bob Dylan. An excellent film.

Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan. Verse How does it feel,
how does it feel? To be without a home. Like a complete
unknown, like a rolling stone. |

Drove to Dunsop Bridge and part way up Trough road to car park
where took drone photo of Langden Brook valley. Then to
Slaidburn to Heritage Centre to see Helen. She’d got the Fylde
Water Board 1911 drawings of Stocks reservoir that I’d taken
there from Lune Pumping Station in 2010. Photographed the plans. |

I had another interesting view of Mars on this morning’s walk as
I walked by the Whittle & Clayton-le-Woods War memorial. It is
currently to the left of the stars Pollux & Castor in the
constellation Gemini (Twins) and can be seen to the left of the
memorial cross. I posted a photo last Fri (10th Jan) but it was
taken on my phone and of poor quality. This morning I had my
camera with me. I also took a closer view of the trio and have
added the distance they are away from Earth. Mars is
currently 60 million miles away and it’s light takes 5 min 20
sec to reach us. Pollux is the brightest star in Gemini and
34 light years away & Castor is 51 light years away. |

The heavy dump of snow that was forecast (Sun 5th Jan 2025) was
much less than expected. This view is the Whittle-le-Woods
Christmas tree on Waterhouse Green, Whittle-le-Woods. |

There were some clear patches in the clouds this evening over
Whittle-le-Woods to reveal a lovely view of the waning Moon and
nearby Planet Venus (top right). Although they appear close the
actual distances are rather different. The Moon is 375,187 km
(233,000miles) away and its light takes 1.3 seconds to reach us.
And Venus is 110 million km (68 million miles) away and its
light takes over 6 minutes to reach us. |

I was enjoying the clear cold sunshine today (Thu 2nd Jan 2025)
with a lunchtime wander by the Whittle-le-Woods cricket field.
My phone app flighradar showed the Airbus A380-800 from Heathrow
to San Francisco flying overhead. I took a snap as it passed
over at 33,800ft and 446 knots (513mph) |

My frist camp of 2025 on Hurst Hill was torrential rain and
strong winds all night so no views of the fireworks at midnight.
