Fri 29 Feb 2008 While out for my morning walk I took this snap of St John's School with my new Nikon Coolpix P5100 pocket camera. It performed very well in the low light with a 4s exposure. Today being the 29th the last of Feb 2008, a leap year, the camera thought it was 1 Mar!

Tue 26 Feb 2008 Chorley Market is worth a visit, even if its just to see the colours. A TV programme was also being filmed at a 'Chillies for Chorley' stall.

Sat 16 Feb 2008 It seemed a good idea to have a walk along the Leeds & Liverpool canal from Blackburn to Whittle-le-Woods as the weather forecast was good. I arrived in Blackburn on the bus about 7:50am to a very cold clear morning. A short walk to Eanam Wharf and I was on the towpath, but not for long. The length of canal towpath through Blackburn was mostly closed by large steel barriers but at no point were any diversion signs up. It took ages to negotiate the various obstacles but at Feniscowles I was clear for an enjoyable walk home in the cold morning sun.

Sat 09 Feb 2008 Today was nice drive in the country for a late birthday lunch with Barbara. The first objective was a cup of tea at the snacks cabin at Devils Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale. On previous visits it had been closed but today being a sunny Saturday it would definitely be open. But many others knew that as well so there were plenty of crowds there. It is also a magnet for the bikers who always congregate at Devils Bridge at the weekend. Then a much less crowded drive via Sedbergh to ‘The Kings Head’ Ravenstonedale for my late birthday lunch. The all day breakfast looked good and was supposed to have black pudding included. But when it arrived they had no black pudding. I got an extra sausage and some baked beans in compensation. The drive home via Ribblehead was extremely picturesque in the sunshine. We had good views of Yorkshire’s highest mountains. Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent.

Mon 04 Feb 2008 I was cycling home from Chorley when I saw the North West Air Ambulance land in a field near Town Lane, Leeds and Liverpool canal area. Shortly afterwards an injured man was brought out of a nearby house on a stretcher with head injuries. Apparently he'd fallen off the roof while doing some repairs.
