As I had a train to catch I started to get ready as soon as I got up. It was still dark and frosty when I set off at 6:50am but I didn’t expect any problems from the frost as I was much lower than the rest of my walk. How wrong I was. I joined the main path off Yoke towards the Garburn Pass track.

Looking back to Froswick, Ill Bell and Yoke.

A brief spot of sunshine.

It had been upgraded in recent years with a raised stoned path and ditches either side. Unfortunately the stoned area was covered in ice so I had to walk on the grass at the edge. At the Garburn Pass I had to stop and put the ice studs on my boots as there was no grass to escape to there.

The walk along the Garburn Road was uneventful but the gate at the start of Dubbs Road had a car dumped adjacent to it, presumably stolen. I reached the road at Moor Howe and had an easy walk to Windermere Railway and the train home.

Impressive trees near Windermere.
