The morning sky was mostly clear and I saw a clear sunrise as I prepared to pack up camp. The field was horribly wet and itís a good job this is my last camp as I packed a lot of mud away with the groundsheet. I wheeled my bike back through the woods and cycled back to the road. Being rush hour it was busy with traffic but I was able to stick to the pavement for quite a way.
Sunrise at my last camp.
I was glad to reach Middleton Park and leave the traffic behind. The first part of the route was along a tarmac road with speed humps but thankfully the left side was flat for cyclists to pass. There was a long descent down the area called Middleton Station but only a single track railway line remains. It used to service the nearby colliery.

Colliery history in the park.
A muddy track followed the railway line to the north, over a road then back to the railway line which stopped at the entrance to the underpass beneath the M621. Along a dirty and rubbish strewn track I reached the cycleway by the road and followed it to a pedestrian crossing then to Sardinia St and Grape St. Over more crossings I reached Clarence Road and on to the River Aire.
End of the line.
I crossed at the footbridge at Fearnís Island by the Armouries. Knights Way Bridge opened Hilary Benn local MP on 2nd Nov 2007. On the other side the only access back to the road was up a steep flight of steps which I couldnít get the bike up. I returned to the Armouries and followed the river to the next footbridge and good bike access.

Then I was back on the roads and followed them to the Railway Station. I arrived at 10:20 and bought a £10:50 single ticket to Blackburn. The train was a bit late and set off just after 11am. There were only 2 carriages but not too many people. The journey was pleasant and just over an hour. The weather was dull for my ride home from Blackburn.
