I slept like a log and didn't wake
until my alarm sounded. I had breakfast in the house and then
returned to my tent until the morning break.
Wet and windy camp on Iona
I then cycled to the ferry pier to
check on the work they are doing there. The end of the slipway has
been undermined by the sea and they are cutting it away ready for
re-constructing it.
Working
on the ferry slipway
The small ferry boat that was due to
take over from the vehicle ferry didn't turn up so I cycled across
Iona to the west side and investigated some of the low hills along
the shoreline. I returned to the slipway for 12:30 and it turned out
the small ferry boat was cancelled for the rest of the day. I
returned to Bishop's House for 13:00 and lunch. A B.T. engineer was
there getting their broad band working. He was from Yorkshire and
staying on Mull for a while to assist the local staff. Apparently
this happens in winter when storms cause problems and extra hands
are needed for a while afterwards. During the afternoon the overcast
and cloudy weather turned to rain.

Old
bell. I wonder what it's history is.
The inscription is Sursum Corda 1907
Which is Latin: "Lift up your hearts"
or literally, "Hearts lifted"
