During the first part of the night the sky had been clear and it had stayed that way I was planning to go for a walk before driving home. By morning the mist and rain had rolled in so a walk wouldn’t have been sensible. I drove back to the Connel Bridge to take a picture in the morning gloom then on to Oban to have a look round the dock area.

I was able to park easily and had a short a pleasant walk in relative quiet as there were few people about. I left the town and headed south along the A816 towards Lochgilphead. The drive was uneventful and fairly gloomy as the weather continued misty. I joined the A83 and the driving conditions improved considerably. It was still misty but the views across Loch Fyne were very atmospheric.

Through Inverary I drove to the castle to see when it opened but all was shut. It was also expensive at around £10. then I drove to Tarbet but changed my mind about driving along Loch Lomond and returned to the A814 to drive along the east shore of Loch Long instead. Through Helensburgh and Dumbarton I drove over the Erskine Bridge to pick up the M8 then M74 and M6 and home.
