I think I’d picked the best spot for my tent as I didn’t get much of a battering even though I could hear the wind screaming overhead. There was some rain overnight but not too heavy. I had to pack the tent away in the drizzle but as I descended the east side of Yarlside the rain stopped and the cloud lifted. I joined an old track which took me to Ben End where I had an easier descent than if I’d taken the main path down. I took my time and reached the Cross Keys about 9:15. The 9:57 bus arrived on time and I rode it as far as Oxenholme Railway Station where I waited for the Manchester Airport train which took me directly to Chorley.
