After spending the night on the floor of Birmingham International Airport I eventually got moving by catching the overhead rail link to the Railway Station. This is the last view I got of the airport.

Yesterday I escaped from the UK to travel to Nepal. The picture was taken on the approach to Delhi airport after an overnight flight. I am now about to change  planes for Kathmandu.

If I'm at home at the weekend I always try and go for an evening walk along the Leeds and Liverpool canal at Johnson's Hillock. After the recent warm weather the day had been dull and raining but during the early evening the sky cleared a bit and revealed wonderful colours.

Evening drove to Chorley Little Theatre to see the Jeremy Hardy gig. I didn’t take any pictures as I wanted to enjoy the show. I made the right decision as his brand of humour is exactly to my liking.
A kind soul in The Guardian wrote of him, “In an ideal world, Jeremy Hardy would be extremely famous, but an ideal world would leave him without most of his best material.”

I was out for an early morning cycle ride and also enjoying the continuing spell of nice warm weather. Cycling up Babylon Lane I was treated to a pre-sunrise view of Winter Hill and Rivington Pike. Then on the descent to Belmont I had the treat of the red morning sky reflected in the Blue Lagoon with St Peter’s Church silhouetted against the sky. A great start to the day.

View from Babylon Lane. Phone mast in the foreground and Winter Hill transmitter on the horizon to the right.

St Peter's Church, Belmont. Built in 1849. The foreground is Ward's reservoir known locally as the Blue Lagoon.
