It was a calm night
but when I set off at 7am there was thick cloud. I followed the
track down the Cupola Corner ruined leadmine buildings then to the
road head at Yarnbury. I was now on Moor Lane, a tarmac road, and
followed it easily down towards Grassington. Eventually the village
appeared below me and many people were about as I walked down the
narrow street to the main road and the car park at the Yorkshire
Dales information centre. |

It had only just gone
8am and a bus was waiting when I arrived. I jumped on it and paid
the £2.70 single fare to Skipton. It didn’t stop at the main bus
station but seemed to terminate at the railway station, which I
thought odd. I followed a path through the town, over the canal and
onto the small bus station. The next bus was to Preston which cost
me £4.70 then a short wait for the Chorley bus and home to Whittle. |
