I was packed away in plenty of time
for the 7:30am ferry. I was first on and headed straight for the
restaurant for breakfast. It was great to see the Scottish breakfast
on the Stornoway ferry is also available on this. Better still they
were serving straight away and I’d got by breakfast before we set
sail. The crossing was uneventful and I arrived back in Uig on Skye
to find my car as I had left it. The weather was miserable but
instead of driving straight home I wanted to check out the grave of
Flora Macdonald. I drove along the narrow road to the Clachan on the
north side of Skye to search out the grave. It was pouring with rain
as I walked through the small graveyard. The monument was erected 90
years after her death in 1790. I though it was way too big.

I continued along the narrow road
being held up by slow and lumbering camper vans. I was relieved to
reach Portree where the road improved and I could drive at a
reasonable speed all the way home. The rain continued till about 10
miles south of Glasgow. Then I had a sunny drive for the rest of the
way.
