With a bus to catch
it was another early start. The night was calm and clear and stars
were out as I got up to put a brew of tea on. I left about 6:15am
and sauntered down off the fell towards the main track. The sky
remained clear and there wasn’t a breath of wind.
Borrowdale valley
Morning mist near Rosthwaite.
I looked down towards
Rosthwaite to see a sea of mist settled on the valley bottom and
clear views above. I was making good time so didn’t rush. The
descent was a bit stony but pleasant and I reached the road in
Rosthwaite in plenty of time. I sat on a stone seat by the General
Store to kill time until the 7:50am bus arrived for Keswick.
The good weather
continued and a beautiful blue sky greeted me in Keswick. I’d bought
an £8.50 explorer ticked which proved to be the most economical
option as the Rosthwaite to Keswick plus Keswick to Windermere
tickets would have cost more. I arrived at the Windermere railway
station with about 2 minutes to spare as the bus was a bit late.
